<1️⃣ Brief Summary>

Born with magical abilities but ostracized for her green skin, both at home and outside, Elphaba and Glinda, a popular girl who dreams of being a witch but lacks magical talent, instead possessing her parents' love and wealth, share a story of friendship and growth.

Elphaba, who believes she is cursed due to her inability to control magic, attends her sister's school entrance ceremony and catches the eye of Madame Morrible, a professor and sorceress, becoming her apprentice. Initially clashing with Glinda, they become inseparable friends after a certain event.

While attending school together, Elphaba receives a summons from the head wizard, and she and Glinda travel to the dream city of Emerald City. Upon meeting the head wizard, they discover that he is actually responsible for the events occurring in the world, has no magical ability, and only pretends to perform magic using machinery. They also discover that Madame Morrible is in cahoots with him!

Realizing that she has been used in an attempt to seize control of the country, Elphaba flees, and the head wizard and Madame Morrible issue a warrant for her arrest, branding her a wicked witch. Glinda follows in an attempt to bring Elphaba back.

During her escape, Elphaba's magical abilities grow stronger, and she intends to save the country with Glinda, but Glinda does not follow her, and they part ways tearfully.

<2️⃣ Review>

I watched it without ever having seen a musical before, and I found it completely accessible. While the beginning had a somewhat cheesy feel due to the nature of the musical and the dialogue, it became more enjoyable as it progressed. I didn't regret watching it and strongly recommended it to others.

The music was absolutely incredible, and the scene where they sing "Defying Gravity" gave me goosebumps. This movie introduced me to Cynthia Erivo, and I was so impressed by her singing talent!!!

The actors perfectly embodied their roles, which made it a joy to watch. This was my first time seeing Ariana Grande act, and she was perfect as Glinda! And Michelle Yeoh... I expected her to play a kind character, but I was surprised... haha

I'm going to see Part 2 in theaters as soon as it comes out. And now I'm curious about the musical!

1. Wicked Part 2 is scheduled for release, and is expected to premiere in November 2025!

2. Ariana Grande has been a Wicked fan since childhood. I saw a picture of her dressed as Elphaba when she was little, and it was so cute. She has also rearranged and sung Wicked songs. This is a successful fan!! 👍

3. They initially planned to arrange the famous "Popular" song in a modern style that matched Ariana Grande's style, but it proceeded with the original version due to Ariana Grande's strong request. Thank you for keeping it the same!!! 💖

4. Two actors introduce Emerald City in the middle of the film, and these actors were in the original 2003 Wicked production. It's moving to see them give back to the fans like this... 😭

5. Wicked is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz. So, at the beginning of the movie, you can see Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Lion, and the Tin Man walking to Emerald City!

6. The Wicked musical will be performed at the Blue Square Shinhan Card Hall in Korea in 2025!
