Seoul Arts Center: Personal Photograph
First, I headed to the Seoul Arts Center to see the exhibition.
Even though I went on a weekday afternoon, there were more people than I expected.
To properly view each artwork, I had to move slowly along the line.
My friend and I went together, and it took about an hour, and we didn't spend a long time on each artwork.
Since there were people behind us following the line, it wasn't easy to stay for a long time.
While viewing the exhibition, the air conditioning was blasting since it was the middle of summer, and it felt increasingly cold. I recommend bringing a long-sleeved shirt.
I went in June, but I think they would still have the air conditioning on.
Exhibition Entrance
I bought my ticket on-site at the ticket office right next to the entrance.
I didn't have to wait, but they are currently offering discounted pre-booked tickets, so I recommend booking in advance.
There's also a photo booth next to the entrance where you can take four-cut photos, so keep that in mind!
Munch's Works
While viewing the artworks, I only thought about the iconic 'The Scream' and expected to see similar works, but I was able to see quite a variety of paintings in different styles. I was impressed by the diversity of his art, showing his adaptability to various environments and his constant pursuit of new challenges.
Although I didn't take photos, I could see works that showed the numerous test pieces he created before completing a single artwork. It's easy to get tired and give up when painting the same picture repeatedly, so I wanted to applaud his perseverance.
<The Scream> Color Lithograph
Towards the end of the exhibition, we encounter familiar works.
However, instead of the familiar version, we can see a slightly different version of <The Scream>.
I learned that there are various versions of "The Scream", and although I only knew the artwork itself, the exhibition gave me a chance to understand the meaning behind it. Through interpretation, I realized that ordinary scenery can look different depending on the situation.
Munch's Words
After seeing the exhibition, Munch's final words were impressive, so I'm leaving this review.
I felt that just as in life, the dust and holes make the whole thing more complete.
The dust and holes can be interpreted as the hardships, storms, and mistakes of life.
After the exhibition, there's a place where they sell goods, so I hope you check it out and I will end the review here!
